About this deal

The book was okay I would have liked to hear more about his life of crime rather than his work after his time in prison. By bidding on, or purchasing this item, you are agreeing to us sharing your name and address details with that 3rd party supplier to allow us to fulfil our contractual obligations to you. From a brief description of his early life to a more heavy part involving his time as a gangland boss and as a convict, it really is gripping.

When I realised my mistake, I contacted this seller and asked if it was possible to have a refund because the book had not yet been dispatched. Cummines turned his life around in prison after a conversation with Charlie Richardson, who urged him to become educated and earn money without hurting anyone. His autobiography, I Am Not A Gangster, was published 15 May 2014 by Random House's Ebury Press imprint. Two police officers allegedly mistreated the two during interrogations, which led Cummines to speak up, saying that as the two involved were minors, an adult had to be present during questioning. His story is a shocking insight into a society where the rules are made by gangland leaders and if anybody dare break them they have to deal with the consequences. His passion is talking to young people in schools and colleges, deterring them from what they might perceive as a glamorous lifestyle by highlighting the harsh realities of crime and prison.

There are a lot of books around about the various criminals and their exploits but few end on a high note, and this has a welcome note of positivity. You feel all emotions when reading this book and it is a very powerful honest account of a difficult life but of someone who came through. He began writing poetry and got into contact with Labour MP Tony Benn who was willing to help him and contributed a foreword to his published poems, as well as changing rules so that the aim of prisons was stated to be to "rehabilitate and educate" rather than the free-for-all ethos that Cummines had experienced. An explosive account of life in the criminal underworld by one of Britain's most dangerous men 'I am not a gangster,' I spat. I first saw a random clip of Bobby Cummines being interviewed on social media, and was so captivated by his brief story, I just had to get his book.

If you ask, he'll tell you he was simply a businessman and it just so happened his business was that of a hitman, armed robber and fixer.Biography: At 16, Bobby Cummines became one of the youngest people in Britain to be convicted of carrying a sawn-off shotgun.
