About this deal

But despite the nod to the Islays, for me this is very much first and foremost an Irish whiskey (with some peat), rather than being like a true Islay whisky that happens to have been made in Ireland. I’ll admit I was skeptical at first, especially after sipping a Knappogue Castle 12, but I’ve slowly come around. When it was first launched in 1999, it was the first smoky Irish whiskey to be produced for generations. It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Ocado Limited's prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement.

We also offer bespoke wine packages to businesses in a variety of different sectors – ideal for functions, boardrooms, or corporate gifts. I found it differing quite a bit from my original notes, but decided to leave both notes mixed in together. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label.

A great spring or summer whiskey, perhaps, not ready to blow your socks off but still a refreshing companion amongst the green rolling hills of the Irish countryside. We treat all personalised bottles individually, taking our time and experience to set out your message to create the most impactful bottle decoration possible. It's said that when the Cooley Distillery started up in the late 1980s, it had no plans to make a smoky whiskey, but at some stage peaty malt was bought and run through the stills with fantastic results. Check out how we can personalise bottles with engraved messages, engraved images or full colour printed photographs.

Connemara is the most decorated Irish whiskey with a huge collection of Gold Medals and has been honoured as the Worlds Best Irish Single Malt. So when tough times ground its gears to a halt, the town came together to save the whiskey that built the town. We have detected that you appear to be using a browser version that is no longer receiving technology updates.I give it 4 rather than 5 stars as I do agree with some of the other reviewers that it is a touch thin, which is a shame as with just a little more to it I think it could have been a perfect 5.

The smoke rising through the malted barley during this drying process confers the whiskey with a distinct peaty flavour and aroma. There is a bit of a jolt between the rather bold nose and the subtler palate, with a fast-fading finish. Brought to you from the Cooley distillery and bottled at 40% ABV, this is a very nice peated Irish whiskey with smoky character.Still, this Connemara expression out of Kilbeggan Distillery, which is owned by the Cooley Distillery, bears the imprint of John Teeling before he sold Cooley to Beam Suntory in 2014. We hope we've answered your question but if we haven't please don't hesitate to get in touch with us via the CONTACT page. Undiluted with no chill filtration or colouring, it reflects the wild rugged nature of the famous Connemara region in the West of Ireland. When using alternative languages it may be neccessary for us to alter the font to ensure all characters are supported, in these cases we use the closest style font to your original selection. Inspired by the 18th-century art of drying malting barley over peat fires, Connemara possesses a distinct peaty flavour and aroma, instilling a delicate smokiness and smooth, sweet taste.

There’s the familiar sweet and freshness I’ve found in many good Irish malts, coupled with the peat, brine and smoke that are surprisingly complimentary. When the Irish whiskey industry was in full flower a century and more ago, though, there were some that incorporated peat smoked barley (the Scots never had the market cornered on using peat for a fuel source, after all) and it is not horribly unusual to find an Irish whiskey double distilled today, even if it is not the norm.
